Rafa Ruíz, Mayor of Ibiza, visited today the works of the Vila Park Square and has ensured that the works will be ready by the end of this month of February. Ruíz, who has come to the area together with Iñaki Alday, architect director of the pedestrianization project for Vara de Rey and the Plaza, stressed that the works "are going at a very good pace."
Despite the problems that have arisen initially, as the finding of archaeological remains in the square and the heavy rains that have hit the island this winter, to finish the work this month within the time limits set for the Ibicenco consistory.
At present, the workers are working on Jaume I street and paving the terraced areas of the square.
The mayor has seized the opportunity to thank the work of all who participate in the work. It has also made mention of merchants and neighbors who have suffered the inconvenience resulting from the work.
It should be remembered that the pedestrianization project of the Plaza del Parque the last 10 of October began and that since then most of the shops and bars in this area have remained closed.
With its reopening, Ibizans recover one of the most emblematic places of Ibiza, meeting point of tourists and residents throughout the year.
