Ibiza counts today with the first joint traffic lights on the island. The initiative is framed within the events of the Day against sexist violence
On the occasion of the International Day against gender-based violence against women the City Council of Ibiza has installed pedestrian traffic lights on the island. Although the 25 is commemorated in November, today 24 has already seen the first semaphores with the silhouette of a woman in some streets of Vila.
The Consistory has decided to change the optics of the main traffic lights in order to "Transmit the city's commitment to defending equality and anti-discrimination policies." Thus, on one side of the street will appear the figure of one woman and the other that of man.
As a complement to this initiative, the Isidoro Macabich fountains and the Maritime promenade of Ibiza they will change the color of your lighting, which will become lilac.
The Councils of Equality, Public Roads and Environment of the Town Council of Ibiza have participated jointly in the elaboration of the program of the International Day against sexist violence.
