El Consell Island of Ibiza organizes, through its Department of Economic and Business Promotion and Municipal Cooperation, a new edition of its traditional craft courses this autumn 2023 to promote traditional crafts on the island and encourage craft production.
In total Habra 7 courses, all taught by artisans and master craftsmen in the trade:
• Course on making 'capells de floc' (traditional hat) (72 hours). Maximum 15 students. Martes from 17 to 20 p.m. at the headquarters of the Colla de Sa Bodega Cultural Association, c/ Extremadura 21 – Ibiza.
• Traditional embroidery course (72 hours). Maximum 15 students. Wednesday from 17 to 20 p.m. at the headquarters of the Colla de Sa Bodega Cultural Association, c/ Extremadura 21 – Ibiza.
• Traditional 'espardenyes' course (typical Ibizan footwear) (100 hours). Maximum 10 students: Martes from 17 to 20 p.m. at the headquarters of the Portmany Craft Association in the Ses Alameres – San Antonio multipurpose center.
• Course on making 'cistellons' (50 hours). Maximum 10 students. Wednesday from 17 to 19 p.m. at the headquarters of the Portmany Craft Association in the Ses Alameres – San Antonio multipurpose center.
• Chopped esparto course (60 hours). Maximum 12 students. Thursday from 17 to 19 p.m. at the headquarters of the Ibizan Cultural and Craft Association Tools and Works at C/ de León 8, 1st Floor – Ibiza.
• Traditional shawl making course (60 hours). Maximum 12 students. Wednesday from 16 to 19 p.m. at the headquarters of the Noves Arrels Association – Puig d'en Valls Cultural Center.
• Traditional clothing making course (100 hours). Maximum 12 students. Monday from 16:30 p.m. to 19:30 p.m. at the headquarters of the Sa Colla de Vila Cultural Association, c/ Extremadura 21 – Ibiza.
All courses are fully free.
Workshops start on November 6th 2023 and extend, according to their duration, to May of 2024.
All the registration can be made from October 19 to 25 2023, both days included.
To sign up, you have to fill in the registration request and deliver it, along with your documentation, to the Consell de Ibiza, either in person or electronically. As maximum you can sign up for two courses.
