La Library of Cala de Bou is going to launch this summer a pioneering project to promote reading among the children and youth of the municipality of San José who have called "The reader machine".
The idea is to spread the habit of reading among children and youth between 6 and 12 years old. Furthermore, the aim is to turn the library into an educational and cultural benchmark that compensates for the educational deficiencies caused by alertness.
The meetings start on Thursday July 1, 2020. Sessions have been organized every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 16 to 18 hours. If necessary, these hours will be extended.
In principle, the activity takes place in July and August of 2020.
And how it works? Participants receive a card with their reading name, which they will choose for their reading tastes. During the sessions they will go up positions from the first level in the "Pyramid of Reading"overcoming custom challenges until they reach the top, where they will become super readers.
The challenges will serve to develop various skills and abilities like creativity or reading comprehension. For example, they may have to create a cover for a story, make up a different ending for a story, or become a librarian's assistant.
