El Archaeological Museum of Ibiza and Formentera presents an interesting exhibition: 'Phoenician Ostrich Shells'.
You can visit it from December 17, 2021 to January 15, 2022 at the Puig des Molins Necropolis and Museum.
Our ostrich eggshells were used as an element bridge between the living and the dead. Its red ocher decorations (with vegetal or symbolic elements) speak of rebirth after death.
These shells are one of the most genuine objects that can be found among the collections of the MAEF. The museum has about a hundred copies that have been located throughout more than a century of excavations in the Puig des Molins.
