Antoni Maria Alcover, writer of the month in Can Ventosa Ibiza

Antonio Maria Alcover was the promoter of the Catalan-Valencian-Balearic Dictionary. This February you can discover part of his work at Can Ventosa Ibiza

Antoni Maria Alcover is writer of the month at the Municipal Library of Can Ventosa, in Ibiza. To mark the 160th anniversary of his birth and 90 years of his death, the author has been chosen to make known and remember part of his work.

Alcover was the Promoter of the Catalan-Valencian-Balearic Dictionary and he was always closely linked to the Ibizan religious.

In his career stand out the creation of the Bulletin of the Dictionary of the Catalan Language, process that materialized in the first International Congress of the Catalan Language in 1906.

His fight to promote Catalan made him known as 'The apostle of the Catalan language'.
