The cultural center of San José, Can Jeroni, organizes an interesting special screening on the occasion of the International Women's Day for Peace and Disarmament, which takes place on Sunday, May 24, 2020.
Thus, the cultural center has programmed the online screening of the documentary "Fragments" throughout the weekend, from Friday 22 at 20:24 p.m. until midnight on Sunday, May 2020, XNUMX.
The film tells how after the peace accords, the Government of Colombia commissioned the sculptor Doris Salcedo to make a work of art with the weapons delivered by the FARC guerrillas and to melt them in large furnaces. The sculptor invites women victims of sexual violence from all actors in the conflict (FARC, paramilitaries, Army) to hammer and forge the metal resulting from the burning of weapons. The result is a catharsis that takes over; they leave pain behind and demand justice, while they teach us a lesson in reconciliation and peace. As one of them affirms, "if you can melt weapons, you can also melt the hatred of this country"
