Jose Carlos Bonet Vallribera exhibits 17 of his works in the show "17 Quadrats" ("17 Squares") in the anteroom of the Plenary Hall of the Ibiza Town Hall.
In the words of the Councilor for Culture, Pep tur, this plastic author, self-taught and versatile “He is an artist who throughout his creative career has shown a coherence that it is often difficult to find and that right now you are working with a series of materials and a completely minimalist aesthetic which I think is very relevant ".
The works selected for the exhibition have been made in the last two years and respond to an expressive economy that revisits the precepts of minimalism and other avant-gardes, with a use of color almost restricted to monochromatic. In the words of Elena Ruiz, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, "The works convey a feeling of harmony and stability because they are very well supported and built ".
Jose Carlos Bonet Vallribera (1965) graduated as an interior designer at the Ibiza School of Arts and Crafts and in 1992 he made his first solo exhibition at the Ibiza Metropolis Gallery. His artistic method is based on experimentation, an incessant search for materials and the combination of various artistic techniques. In this exhibition, he establishes a dialogue between painting, sculpture and object, contrasting the warmth of wood with materials such as methacrylate or polycarbonate.
The exhibition will be exposed in the plenary hall until August 2021.
The room is open all year from Monday to Friday from 9 to 14: 30 hours. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays it is closed.
