IV IbizaCineFest, International Independent Film Festival of Ibiza
The IbizaCineFest International Independent Film Festival celebrates its fourth edition from January 31 to February 9, 2020, check the program here!
IbizaCineFest, the Independent Film Festival of Ibiza It is consolidated as one of the most important cultural events on the island.
At its fourth edition expand its format and schedules to offer you Day 10 programming loaded with projections and free activities. This has been possible thanks to the support of public and private sponsors, highlighting the commitment to the contest from entities such as the Consell de Ibiza or the City Council of San José.
El IV IbizaCineFest it is celebrated Friday, January 31 to Sunday, February 9, 2020.
The locations of the festival this year will be the center of culture of Can Jeroni, in San José, which will house all the projections of the Official Sections and FEM-CINE, the Theater Spain of Santa Eulalia, the Cervantes Cultural Center in San Antonio, the UIB, the hotel Ocean Drive Ibiza and the bar Scary, in Ibiza city.
In the 2020 edition we find 7 Official Competitive Sections, a FEM-CINE Section, Parallel Sections, Activities and a Professional Section.
In total, there will be 80 projections between feature films and short films, with two world premieres, three European premieres and seven in Spain, with award-winning works at the Malaga or San Sebastian Festivals. You can also see 4 short films nominated for the Goya 2020 and a short winner at Cannes 2019.
In India there is Opening Day on Friday, January 31, 2020 the documentary will be screened «Moonface. A woman in war », about the war photographer Christine Spengler, a film awarded with a Silver Biznaga at the last Malaga Festival. In addition, you can enjoy the preview of «Salka in no man's land», movie directed (as «Moonface») by Xavi Herrero, director of IbizaCineFest, which will be screened at the Berlinale 2020. They are also presented two teasers of future projections by 2020, in the post-production and financing process. In addition, the "Memiento Mori" exhibition by Pepe Tauste, which can be visited during the 10 days of the festival. All this will happen in Can Jeroni.
Among the feature films presented by the festival, films such as «Black eyes» (Silver Biznaga and Best Film in the Cine Zone of the past Malaga Festival), Oreina (awarded at the last San Sebastian Festival), the American Two Girls or the mexican Pelm, which premiere in Spain at the IbizaCineFest. You can also watch documentaries like «Peret. I am the rumba » o Ballad of a Rigtous Merchant, about Werner Herzog.
The contest premieres the Official Competitive Section FEM-CINE, with short and long films that promote gender equality, and that includes five important Spanish and one Colombian films.
In rural areas of India, families in charge of a blind minor frequently isolate and deprive him/her of the care and attention they provide to their other children; such situation becomes even more severe among lower-caste families, orphans and if the blind child is a girl. parallel sections It includes the premiere of two long films produced in Ibiza of German and Japanese origin, two monographs focused on Institutes of Ibiza and Formentera in morning sessions, on the environment with the European premiere of the documentary "The Story of Plastic" and awareness about traffic accidents, with the winner «A cold morning».
As in past editions, in addition to projections there will be other parallel activities. Among other things, a workshop about us screenwriting, un cineconcert and a Professional Day open to the public at OD Ocean Drive Ibiza, having a masterclass and a round table with international filmmakers. In addition, the festival has online programming, with a monograph on the beginnings of David Lynch and a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the mythical film set in Ibiza «More» (1969).
Thanks to the increase in public and private support this year, all programming is free.
