"Ibiza in the History of Radio", exhibition by Sa Nostra Sala
Sa Nostra Sala in Ibiza presents the exhibition "Ibiza in the History of Radio", which you can visit from 7 from February to 15 from March 2019
The Consell de Ibiza has organized an interesting double exhibition about the history of radio on the island in collaboration with the City of San José. One focuses on this municipality and you can visit it in the culture room of Can Jeroni.
For its part, the exhibition hall Sa Nostra Room, in the center of Ibiza city, presents the exhibition "Ibiza in the history of radio". It is a historical journey to this day and a vindication of the "forgotten" figures who developed radio technology.
The idea of the sample originates in a very marked historical fact: in December of 1902 in San José technicians at the orders of Julio Cervera Bavaria they were finalizing the preparations to carry out one of the first radiotelegraph transmissions in the world, one of the most important radio antecedents.
As explained by the curator of the exhibition, this communication was reached only one month after Marconi managed to emit electrical signals between two points separated by an 3.000 kilometers on both sides of the Atlantic. The distance in the Spanish case was only 34 kilometers, but Cervera achieved it using its own system and, in addition, it improved the one created by Marconi.
The exhibition opens on Thursday 7 of February of 2019 to 20 hours with a radio connection between Ibiza and San José of the president of the Consell Insular Vicent Torres and the mayor of San Jose Josep Marí Ribas.
You can visit the exhibition of Monday through Friday from 11 to 14 hours and from 17 to 20: 30 hours until the next March 15 2019.
