The exhibition hall Sa Nostra Room, in Ibiza city, hosts the exhibition "Oriol Maspons, the first trip" ("Oriol Maspons, the first trip") curated by Toni Alvarez de Arana.
It is a collection of 70 images of the famous Catalan photographer, a key figure in Spanish photography, provided by his son Alex Maspons Majó. The snapshots are a visual historical document of the time, as they collect the evolution of Ibiza from the 50s to the 80s.
Oriol Maspons began his career after a stay in Paris between 1955 and 1957, and his work is characterized by betting on an image that conveys reality clearly and directly.
In the summer of 1954, accompanied by a Rolleiflex camera, a young Maspons, an insurance company worker and amateur photographer, visited Ibiza and produced his first report on the island: landscapes, everyday scenes, local architectural elements, still lifes... He also takes out in Ibiza the first pose in bikini from our country, from the young French model Monique Koller.
In the 70s, in the years of "gonzo journalism", Oriol Maspons took for Interviú photographs of nudes, hippies, hitchhikers or the crazy nights of Amnesia, Ku or Pacha.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 10 2021 July at 20 hours. You can visit it from Monday to Friday until September 3, 2021. The time is from 10 a.m. to 13:30 p.m. and from 17:30 p.m. to 20:30 p.m..
