Antonio Hormigo, one of Ibiza's best-known artists, has died on 15 May Wednesday of 2019 to the 86 years because of a heart attack. Hormigo, born in San Antonio at 1933, had been suffering from health problems for a year.
Antonio Hormigo is considered one of the most outstanding sculptors of the contemporary Ibizan artistic scene. His works made with olive wood, pine, almond, juniper or carob tree of the islands are full of mythological and symbolic inspiration. Self-taught, he was founder with other artists of the 77 Group and participated in multiple exhibitions on the island and in Europe.
The City Council and the MACE welcomed a retrospective exhibition of yours in 2018.
He is considered one of the sculptors who has best known how to transmit the colors and textures of Ibiza and the Mediterranean. He was also a very close person, humble as an artist and much loved on the island.
La funeral mass Is celebrated the Friday 17 May 2019 at 18:30 hours in the San Antonio church.
