El Eivissa Jazz Festival, one of the most important musical and cultural events of the year in Ibiza, comes to its Edition 35 returning to bring us some of the best jazz artists on the national and international scene, with nine concerts and three free days.
The great event of jazz in Ibiza is held from Monday 28 to Saturday 2 September 2023 and maintains the same scenarios from last year: Sotavila Square, Vara de Rey, Reina Sofía Park and Baluarte de Santa Lucia (Dalt Vila).
The festival starts on Monday August 28st, 2023 at 21 hours and with a free screening in the Sotavila square from Ibiza of an essential film for jazz lovers: "Bird" (1988), a film directed by Clint Eastwood that tells the life of the brilliant saxophonist Charlie Parker.
El Tuesday August 29, 2023 at 21 hours a concert is scheduled price quotation en King's wand Group íchos, a project formed by musicians from Ibiza with hard bop songs, versions and their own songs.
El Wednesday, August 30, 2023 the festival moves to Reina Sofía Park, where at 21 hours will act free el David Sancho Trio, project of the IEA (Association of Interpreters and Performers – Jazz En Ruta) and at 22 hours la Big Band Ciutat d'EivissaDirected by Vicent Tur (also a member of Íchos), which this year will focus its concert on paying homage to Frank Sinatra.
The fourth day of the festival Thursday, August 31, 2023 is already transferred to the precious framework offered by the Bastion of Saint Lucia en dalt vila, where the concerts already happen to be of payment. A las 21:30 hours arrives one of the highlights of the festival, the concert of The Aurora, a band that includes the Ibizan drummer Joan Carles Marí, who will give a concert in which they will fuse jazz, flamenco and rock, in addition to presenting their album 'La Balsa de la Medusa'. The group will be accompanied by the prestigious trumpeter Antonio Moreno. And as is customary, this first night in the Baluarte will close it, starting at 22:30 hours el Eivissa Jazz Experience, which this year is presented in sextet format, with musicians who have already been through the contest but have never played together.
El Friday 1 September 2023 the evening starts at 21:30 hours with the Juan Saiz Quartet, also belonging to the AIE, to continue at the 22:30 hours with another Eivissa Jazz headliner: the Jose Carra Quintet, with the pianist from Malaga Jose Carra, winner of the Guía del Jazz 2023 first prize with his latest album 'Satélite', accompanied by Dani Dominguez (battery), Bori Albero (double bass), Henry Oliver (sax) and Luis Regidor (voice and guitar).
The festival ends on Saturday 2 of September 2023 presenting at 21:30 hours to the winners of the festival's band contest Getxo Jazz (in his usual collaboration with Eivissa Jazz), which this year has been the Giulio Ottanelli Quartet. The final concert is in the hands of the main headliner: the Italian accordionist Vincent Pierani, who presents his project 'Jokers', next to Federico Casagrande and Ziv Ravitz. A high voltage proposal that explores the limits of jazz, incorporating rock and electronic sounds.
