El fire produced on Thursday 16 from July to noon in San Miguel, north of Ibiza, has stabilized after several hours of hard work on the part of the Ibanat that has had to send to the place a great number of troops, among other great number of airplanes and fire helicopters that flew on the north of the island Thursday.
The severe fire that could have been caused by an abandoned butt lit, has burned 23 hectares of forest area and was on the point of reaching the church of San Miguel and the Puig de Missa.
Because of the fire, it was evacuate a hundred people housing and a hotel in the area, and at least one couple of people suffered poisoning from smoke and had to be attended to.
This Friday It is expected that continue the work of Ibanat to finish extinguishing the fire, although the alarm level was already 0 on Thursday afternoon and the neighbors were able to return to their homes.
According to the mayor Township, Antoni Marí "Carraca", This is the fifth fire in a month the area of San Miguel and Benirràs (which already suffered two of the most serious fires on the island), which to fear among the inhabitants of the existence of a pyromaniac. The fire is still active and very close to the church and the village, and apparently started in the treatment plant, so it has had to evict several neighbors.
