El Ibiza port appeared covered in shoes in a highly symbolic action starring Extinction Rebellion Ibiza.
under the motto "Covid today, climate crisis tomorrow, act NOW", the international environmental movement Extinction Rebellion organized an impressive simultaneous action in different emblematic places throughout Spain and, of course, also in Ibiza.
The action, repeated in city squares such as Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Cádiz, A Coruña or Ibiza, has consisted of covering iconic places with shoes to demand citizen participation and immediate action against the climate emergency in the reconstruction process after the coronavirus crisis.
And it is that, although we are immersed in a health and social emergency, the climate crisis remains the greatest threat facing humanity.
The 320 pairs of shoes that were placed in front of the Antoni Riquer square, in the Port of Ibiza, reflect the entire society, which must participate, united in this change that we need to protect the climate, biodiversity and social justice.
In addition, thanks to this action in Ibiza, 270 pairs of shoes have been collected and donated to Deixalles and the Association of Senegalese of Ibiza.
