It's already spring! The island comes alive and the fields bloom with a thousand colors. We tell you which are the most common flowers on the island of Ibiza, give flowers from the island!

With the arrival of spring, the fields of Ibiza are filled with wonderful colors and nature gives us its infinite wisdom through those little treasures that are the Ibiza flowers.

The island has great variety of native flora, almost a thousand species complemented by the cared for and abundant gardens that show more exotic varieties, since the mild weather de Ibiza allows a multitude of species to adapt easily.

However, in this post we want to claim the most authentic flora of the island, above other varieties from abroad. And it is that the Ibizan nature already fills us with beauty during the spring and summer months, why should we have to look for it outside?

Most common flowers of Ibiza

Ibiza has a multitude of misnamed "weeds" or adventitious grasses, plants that most of the time go unnoticed but that have many gastronomic, aesthetic and medicinal properties.

The roads of Ibiza are full of the green and yellow of the wood sorrel or vinagrillo (which many confuse with clover), whose stems are a temptation for kids due to their acid taste and which, in moderate quantity, can be used in salad. Walking in nature we will also see a multitude of joyful daisies, seducers poppies and curative marigolds, whose orange flowers are used in a multitude of skin treatments.

El wild fennel It also grows in legion on the island, like the wild asparagus and wild chard, also called "vegetables" and used to prepare the typical Lenten dish, the "cuinat". Of course, the little blue flowers of the romero, Those of the thyme or frigola, chamomile, lemon verbena or the mint they are everywhere. For something are some of the plants used to make the famous liqueur of "Ibizan herbs". And many cooks begin to use secrets like the wild garlic flower, which provides the same flavor as garlic but with a touch of distinction on your plate.

In Ibiza we also find an abundance of the delicate flowers of the rockrose, unforgettable stamp of the Almond trees in bloom at the end of winter, the impressive hibiscus, the blue ones chicory, the robust and cheerful broom with its small yellow flowers, or the bougainvillea that display in summer all their exuberance on the porches and walls of the houses, the dangerous but beautiful oleanders (here called "baladres", whose leaves are poisonous), or the precious wild orchids which, they say, demonstrate the quality of the soil where they flourish.

All the succulent plants cacti are also very common in Ibiza, where many grow the aloe vera for its many properties, different types of cactus o crass, perfect as decorative elements that also require little care. In Ibiza we even have species halofilas, resistant to salt, so you will find many of them literally on the beach.

Finally, do not forget to mention the abundance of olive, carob, fig, orange, lemon, palm trees y Pine trees. Regarding the latter, we cannot forget that “Las Pitiusas”, as Ibiza and Formentera are known, is a term of Roman origin that means “islands covered with pines”.
