About Es Cubells – San José

If there is something for which the tiny village of Es Cubells it's because of beautiful church and for their high cliffs. Located in the southern part of Saint Joseph, It is probably one of the quietest villages on the island of Ibiza.

Approaching to Es Cubells is a great idea. The road can be a bit heavy, but when you get to the town you'll know it's worth it. Seeing the center will not take you more than a few minutes and you will find a public parking right at the entrance.

The first thing that will catch your attention will be the beautiful church that presides over the town. Formerly, the faithful had to move from Es Cubells to San José to attend the service. This fact motivated to the Carmelite Francesc Palau to request the license so that the town counted on its own church. In 1864 a chapel dedicated to the Virgen del Carmen, but it was not until 1933 when the parish of Es Cubells was founded. The works finished in 1958, reason why it is the last one that was constructed following the typical architecture ibicenca.

Just behind the church we find a playground or with a monument in honor to Francesc Palau. But certainly the most striking is the gazebo from which we can contemplate the spectacular cliffs of Es Cubells. The photographs from this point are authentic postcards.

This stretch of coast has small and beautiful coves, although difficult to access, such as Ses Boques or the Es Cubells beach.

Un sports center, two restaurants, a library and a mini supermarket they finish forming the center of the town. In its vicinity is also the convent of the teresianas, closed to the public. The rest is composed of extensive and green lands in which all types of chalets and country houses have been built.

El Carmen's day and Santa Teresa's day, in July and October, the popular festivities of Es Cubells.
