The Mare Nostrum Folk Festival has been converted from 1997 in a sample not only of the folklore of Ibiza, but also of other cities
From 1997 the folkloric festival Mare Nostrum offers the dance show of the Pitiusas Islands. Formerly held the last weekend of May, however, currently the dates vary. It takes place in the beautiful municipality of San Jose and it is a unique opportunity to learn about the interesting local folklore. Groups from other communities participate in it, turning the event into a unique cultural exchange.
The peasant dance 'collas' wear their best clothes for the occasion. It is a representative sample of the Ibizan culture that also teaches the popular feelings of a land united by the Mediterranean.
You can find information about the Mare Nostrum Folk Festival in the website of the City of San José.
