About Archaeological Museum of Ibiza and Formentera (Temporarily closed)

At Archaeological Museum of Ibiza and Formentera The culture and the past of the Pitiusas Islands are represented. This space transports the visitor to the ancient history of Ibiza and Formentera, from prehistory to the Catalan conquest in the thirteenth century.

It is located at dalt vila, next to the Cathedral of Santa María de las Nieves. It occupies the old building of the University and the interior of the bastion of Santa Tecla and the access is made through the chapel of El Salvador.

The museum brings together a complete collection of valuable objects belonging to the various periods that form the past of Ibiza and Formentera. Some 600 parts including several sculptures, jewelry or ceramics of different cultures. The Ebusitana Archaeological Society was the one in charge to collect in its excavations all the material that exposes in this important center.

General admission costs just over two euros.

La Necrópolis Púnica de Puig des Molins, outside the walled enclosure, houses a extension of this museum. 

This second headquarters is open from Tuesday to Saturday. From April 1 to September 30 from 10 a.m. to 14 p.m. and from 18:30 p.m. to 21 p.m. From October 1 to March 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 15 p.m. In addition, it is open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 14 p.m. throughout the year. It is closed on Mondays and holidays.

Opening hours (This 2021 the museum is temporarily closed as it is undergoing a rehabilitation project)

-From 16 from March to 15 from October from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 to 14 and from 18 to 20 hours. Sundays from 10 to 14.

-Closed Mondays and holidays.
